NEDERLAND, Texas — A cold case mystery in mid-county has a family pleading for help.
Debra Killian, 53, left her Nederland home following an argument about two years ago.
Her husband, Alan Killian, reported her missing three days later, but the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office still has 'zero leads.'
"I would be happy to know where she is at because I am concerned about her," said Alan Killian.
Killian still flips through her photo albums. There is not a day that goes by when he doesn't think about where his wife could be.
Debra grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. In the mid-70's, she moved to Nederland with her mother and stepfather. Alan said they met at the Holiday Inn in Port Arthur when Debra worked as a night auditor.
In 1982, they got married and moved into their home. Alan said on her time off, she would spend time volunteering around the community.
"She was always helping the homeless people for days and bringing them food," said Alan.
However, Debra had another side. Alan said she struggled with bipolar depression. He said her mental illness worsened as their marriage went on.
"She would go through periods," said Alan. "She would be down and then up, you just never knew."
Capt. Crystal Holmes at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said due to Debra's mental health battle, it wasn't abnormal for her to frequently leave her house.
"That was a concern because we didn't know at the time that she was in the right state of mind to even know," said Capt.Holmes.
Alan said an argument over money led to her disappearance that afternoon of July 21, 2017.
"My mother had died and she left me and her money as long as she was with me, but she wanted to take the money and go," said Alan.
When Alan returned to the home after clearing his mind, he said Debra was nowhere to be found.
"She told me standing out there that she loved me, but I don't know," said Alan.
Holmes said it's not uncommon for family members to leave and never return. In this case, Holmes believes Debra might not want to be found.
Alan looked everywhere for his wife and all he can do now is pray for Debra's well being.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Debra was last seen wearing a t-shirt and jeans. She has blonde hair, green eyes and is about 4 feet 9 inches tall.
Anyone with information regarding her location is asked to call the sheriff's office.
