WEST ORANGE, Texas — Police and medics in West Orange have responded to the scene where a man on a bicycle was struck by a pickup truck Tuesday morning.
The accident happened along Western Avenue (FM105) south of Highway 87 at about 5 a.m. Tuesday morning according to the West Orange Police Department.
The West Orange Assistant Police Chief Jesse Romero told 12News by phone that the victim was awake and alert at the scene, but could not speak because of the injury. He says it is believed the victim will recover, and the driver of the pickup got a citation.
The man was taken to a Southeast Texas hospital by Acadian Ambulance.
Police are continuing to investigate and described his condition as critical.
