BEAUMONT, Texas — Voters in Beaumont will choose a new mayor Saturday. However, it's the race for ward two that's attracting a lot of attention.
Mike Getz is the incumbent and is facing Jefferson Fisher as the challenger.
Getz said for the past eight years, he's brought integrity to the seat.
"When I see something that is not right, I'm going to stand up and say something about it," said Getz.
Fisher believes he'll bring a breath of fresh air to the council. He agrees with most of Getz's polices, just not how he carries them out.
"It's not about what you say," said Fisher. "It's how you say it and I think I bring the ability to build bridges not break them."
Getz believes Fisher has made the campaign more about the two opponents than about the issues.
"Some people say I'm divisive when I stand up, but I call that doing my job," said Getz.
Voting on Saturday runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
