Arkansas State University says armed suspect in custody

JONESBORO, Ark. (KTHV) – An active shooter alert is in effect at Arkansas State University, according to campus police. Here's a look at the information we know now:

- A tweet shared by the university just after 1:30 p.m. read, "Report of an active shooter spotted at the student union. Everyone should evacuate to the west side of the building and clear the area."

- The Associated Press reports an armed man drove onto campus in a pickup truck outside the student union Thursday afternoon.

- Police quickly surrounded him, and by 2:48 p.m., Jonesboro police tweeted that the man was in custody.

- Bill Smith, public relations spokesperson for ASU, said the individual brandished a weapon on campus. He said no shots were fired.

- The campus remains on lockdown as police are searching the man's vehicle.

- University officials said final exams have been reschedule
