12News and The Beaumont Enterprise have declared Kent Walston as the winner in the race for 58th District Court Judge, defeating Tom Rugg.
Walston, a Democrat, has been a refinery worker, a Port Arthur police officer and a municipal judge. He graduated from Lamar University
Rugg, a Republican, was appointed to the bench by Governor Rick Perry earlier this year. He is also a Lamar University graduate. He served as Jefferson County's chief civil attorney for 27 years. He was endorsed by the Beaumont Enterprise because of his experience and work ethic.
