Apply to construction, permanent jobs at Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas job fair Saturday

You'll get the chance to apply in person to more than 4,500 construction jobs that are available at the plant and 500 permanent jobs.

ORANGE, Texas — Workforce Solutions and Golden Triangle Polymers are teaming up to assist Southeast Texans in need of jobs.

The job fair takes place Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Orange County Convention & Expo Center.

Registering prior to the fair will give you priority access.

"As a job seeker, they're giving you the first opportunity to get in there look at what these jobs are and apply," Assistant Director of Communications for Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas Pamela Wise said.

Attendees will have the chance to apply in person to more than 4,500 construction jobs that are available at the Golden Triangle Polymers Company facility in Orange and 500 permanent jobs.

Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LLC announced November 2022 that it has selected a site in Orange County for an "integrated polymers" facility in partnership with QatarEnergy.

"We'll it is our initiative and employer led initiative, with Golden Triangle Polymers. We received a contribution from them to start this initiative on hiring local people," Wise said.

The company is looking for skilled workers.

"Things like concrete, rebar, those types of things, but we will also need people who can drive forklifts, maybe even heavy equipment operators for the bulldozers, those types of things," Wise said.

They'll also need office workers who excel at time keeping and office management.

"High wage, high demand, very good jobs to have. So, keep that in mind," Wise said.

Pay will vary by skill level.

"Certifications like in Microsoft. Software like Primavera, Oracle, Sap," Wise said.

Job candidates are encouraged to dress business casual and have their resumes ready.

"Correspond and talk with the employers, bring copies of your resume. Be ready to interview," Wise said. "So come ready to interview. I'm not saying dress up in a suit or anything like that, but certainly be dressed appropriately and ready to interview with those employers."

Their priority is that locals see these job offers first.

"They're very interested in the success and the economic development and growth of Orange County, Hardin County and Jefferson County," Wise said.

Another job fair will take place on August 24, 2023.
