BEAUMONT, Texas — A beloved Southeast Texas event venue and private club is closing its doors after decades of hosting celebrations.
Benton's, which used to be known as the Pompano Club, is saying goodbye after 45 years of dinners, receptions and parties.
In a May 6 Facebook post, the Benton's team thanked Southeast Texas, saying 'We've enjoyed sharing all of your most memorable occasions-from banquets to weddings, and 50th Anniversary dinners to awards receptions. We’ve loved celebrating holidays with you-from Easter to New Years and everything in between. Thank you for trusting us to take care of the biggest moments of your lives. We’re so grateful for all of the memories."
The venue had been closed for weeks due to the pandemic.
A family spokesperson told 12News that Harvey impacted the business, followed by Imelda. The TPC explosions were also a factor, and finally the closures due to COVID-19 ultimately led to the decision to close.
