BEAUMONT, Texas — Sharinna Byrd is a digital producer at 12News in Beaumont, Tx, specializing in general news.
She joined the 12News team in February 2024.
Byrd was born and raised in Houston and earned her bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Houston in 2020.
She started her college career here in Beaumont at Lamar University before transferring to U of H.
Byrd will start working on a masters degree in criminal justice at Lamar.
She worked as a full-time dispatcher for the Harris County Sheriff's Office from 2019 - 2022.
During college she also worked as an intern in 2018 for the E.W. Scripps-owned Newsy.
She also worked as a digital news intern in 2021 at KPRC in Houston.
Byrd then worked as the weekend assignments editor for KPRC from 2022 - 2023.
In 2023 she returned to working as a dispatcher, this time for the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, until she came to work at 12News in early 2024.
When she's not working, Byrd enjoys stargazing, hiking, working out, learning piano and experimenting with skincare routines.
She also has a small wax melt business.
Byrd also loves old cars and is a NASCAR fan, as well as a gamer. She says she loves the Grand Theft Auto game series.
She loves horror films, Marvel films, especially Ironman and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
