BEAUMONT, Texas — Nick Northrup is a producer at 12News in Beaumont, Tx, specializing in general news.
He joined 12News in June 2023 and is finishing his broadcast communications degree at Lamar University in Beaumont.
Northrup worked as a technical director for all types of sports events at Lamar and was a reporter and producer at the school's student-run LUTV.
His goal is to someday be a technical director or producer for large events such as the World Cup or Super Bowl. After reaching that goal he says he'd like to slow down and become a teacher.
Northrup loves camping even though he hasn't had the time lately and spent more than a decade in the Boy Scouts where he became an Eagle Scout.
His Eagle Scout project involved restoring a section of the Battleship Texas’ superstructure. The project took four weeks in the summer sun, more than 20 volunteers and thousands of dollars in donations.
Northrup enjoys working out, painting minis and studying history. The history of Rome, Japan and ancient Mesopotamia fascinate him.
