BEAUMONT, Texas — 12News is thrilled to announce the appointment of Brandon Roddy as the new Sports Director for 409Sports, the premiere source for local sports coverage in Southeast Texas.
Roddy, a seasoned sports journalist and athlete, will debut on-air on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 6 p,m, and will anchor the 409Sports Blitz at 10:15 p.m.
Originally hailing from Peoria, IL, Roddy has strong Texas ties with family connections in San Antonio, which have brought him to the Lone Star State for a lifetime of memorable experiences.
Roddy's journey into sports journalism was undoubtedly influenced by his collegiate athletic career.
He played college football at both the University of Mississippi and Murray State University, where he earned scholarships to pursue his passion for the game.
Roddy graduated from Murray State, armed with an invaluable combination of academic knowledge and on-field experience.
Over the past 12 years, he has been a vital part of the sports reporting team at our sister-station, KENS 5 in San Antonio.
His roles included sports reporting, co-hosting lifestyle shows, and work behind the scenes as a photographer and editor. Roddy's dedication and multi-faceted skills have made him a trusted figure in the world of Texas sports journalism.

When he's not in the newsroom, Roddy's interests include strength training, music, reading, gaming and all things sports. His passion for sports even led to some remarkable experiences, as he once played alongside football legend Eli Manning and participated in an all-star basketball game coached by the iconic duo of Shaquille O'Neal and Magic Johnson.
