BEAUMONT, Texas — The eight finalists for the 2019 Willie Ray Smith award were announced on Wednesday.
Two Newton Eagles and two West Brook Bruins made the list.
The four offensive finalists include West Brook running back Robert McGrue, Jr., Newton running back Darwin Barlow, Evadale running back Will Farr, and last year's award winner, Port Neches-Groves quarterback Roschon Johnson.
The four defensive finalists include Newton's Jadrian McGraw, West Brook's Darrel Hawkins, West Orange-Stark's Teshaun Teel, and Hamshire-Fannett's Blaine Waggoner.
