ORANGE, Texas — The Orange Fire Department was sent out to 106 Nash Street in Orange at about 6 p.m. to find a couple's home engulfed in flames.
Upon their arrival, OFD says the front of the house was heavily engulfed in smoke and fire.
They soon called for aid from West Orange and Little Cyprus Fire Departments.
The owners of the home, Rita Ancelet and her husband made it out safely, but sadly the same can not be said for many of her cats.
Firefighters were able to rescue two of Anclet's cats, but several were found deceased after the flames were finally quelled.
Ancelet says that she and her husband were sitting in their home when she suddenly heard a loud noise and turned to see the back of her couch on fire.
The flames then jumped to her husbands oxygen machine causing them to grow exponentially, the frightened couple fled the home with only the clothes on their back.
"I lost everything, my credit cards, his insurance card, money he had, both our phones, clothes, everything. What you see now is all I have left," said Ancelet.
With all of their belongings being consumed by the fire, Ancelet says that her family could use any help that the community can spare.
The home itself appears to be a total loss with major fire and smoke damage.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by OFD Fire Marshall Randy Enner.
