PINEHURST, Texas — The Pinehurst Police Department is investigating after finding a man's body in Adams bayou.

On June 1 PPD received a call from a fisherman who came across the mans body while out on the water.

With the help of Orange County Emergency Services District 3, PPD arrived at Adams bayou just south of the Interstate 10 turnaround.

While the identity of the body is still unknown, PPD said that he was a black man with a mustache and a chest tattoo. Officers attempted to recreate the tattoo that was found in the middle of his chest. The tattoo was faint and is not an exact representation. Some characters were not easily seen.

There was a metal vehicle visor-clip found on his belt that was around his waist that said, “St. Joseph Motorist’s Prayer". Also found was a vehicle name plate with the word, “CHEYENNE,” on it.

An autopsy has been ordered by Precinct 1, Justice of the Peace Hershel Stagner. According to PPD no foul play is suspected at this point, but the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Lieutenant Jocelyn Trussell of the Pinehurst Police Department at 409-886-2221.
