This years event will include around 1,700 kids from 25 school districts, representing 100 schools, along with 200 volunteers from the YMBL and other community organizations.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Thursday, March 21st marks the beginning of the 2019 YMBL South Texas State Fair. Opening ceremonies kick off at 5:30 p.m. and gates open at six. The day starts with the annual Harold Engstrom Memorial Special Kids Rodeo at 10 a.m, and ends at 2 p.m.

YMBL members say the event started 30 years ago, and quickly became a community favorite. The first year 1,000 physically and mentally challenged and disabled kids attended the event.

This years event will include around 1,700 kids from 25 school districts, representing 100 schools, along with 200 volunteers from the YMBL and other community organizations.

The events purpose is to provide a memorable and fun opportunity for young people who don't often get to participate in activities, like a real western rodeo, outside of their homes and schools.
