Beaumont Police are searching for a suspect in the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old Beaumont man Tuesday evening.
Levi Pruitt was fatally shot by a suspect described by a witness as a man in his late teens at a home in 3900 block of Sunbury Drive just before 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Beaumont Police were dispatched to the address at about 5:45 p.m. after receiving reports of shots being fired.
Andrew Haynes, who told 12News he was a best friends with Pruitt and witnessed the shooting, said neither he or Pruitt knew the suspect.
"I've never met this kid in my life, looked like he was a seventeen-year-old kid with a pistol pulled it out and said, 'we can have this the easy way or the hard way.' And Levi said, 'I don't have any problems with anybody,' and he shot him right there," Haynes told 12News at the scene several hours after the shooting.
"He didn't deserve this, he was a good person who took people in," Haynes said.
Police have not released a description of the suspect and continue to investigate.
They ask that anyone with information regarding the shooting call them at 409-832-1234.
"That was one of my best friends and he did not deserve that," Haynes said.
