According to the Texas Education Agency, the district has a 86.7 percent four-year graduation rate.

The district would have been given an "F" letter grade, if had not received a waiver due to Harvey. A parent with five children in the district says last year's storm is no excuse for the low score. "We try to help our kids and give them the best education. This score is just terrible," said Chantale Johnson.

West Orange-Cove Superintendent Dr. Rickie Harris says they have a lot of work to do, and he plans to focus on improving the overall educational experience for students.

EDITOR'S NOTE: A previous version of this story incorrectly reported that the West Orange-Cove CISD four-year graduation rate was 65 percent but 65 was actually a score not a percentage that was assigned by the TEA. The district achieved a 86.7 percent four-year graduation rate.
