SABINE PASS — A potential nice catch ended up being shark bait for one Southeast Texas teen on Sunday.

Madison Thibodeau of Lumberton was fishing with her mother and her mother's Boyfriend, Mark E. Gaudet, about 65 miles off of the Sabine Pass Jetties.

They were trying to catch red snapper, but the sharks had other plans.

Gaudet said every time they would hook a snapper, a shark would eat the fish or take the line.

At the end of the 11 hour trip the trio ended up bringing home a 60-inch black tip shark, but no snapper.

All in all, Gaudet says it was a fun, memorable experience.
