Governor Greg Abbott spoke at the Orange County Republican Party’s "Lincoln Reagan Day Dinner" at the Orange County Convention and Expo Center Saturday night.
At the event, the governor discussed the state’s economy, teacher salaries and sanctuary cities.
He also talked about how Texans were resilient during Harvey.
“When they came up to the person that needed help, they didn’t say, what is your race, what is your sex, what is your country or national origin?” said Governor Abbott.
“It didn’t matter, it didn’t matter what your background was, what your religion was as long as long as you were a human being that needed to be rescued and by god a Texan was going to save your life.”
State representative Dade Phelan and Congressman Brian Babin also spoke at the event along with other speakers.
Proceeds from the event will be used for the Orange County Republican Party according to the event Facebook page.
