Eat Beaumont restaurant week kicks off Monday

Participating restaurants will have different deals going on all week. Some restaurants are highlighted on certain days, featuring special events like live music.

BEAUMONT — "Southeast Texas Foodies" food blogger Lauren Bebeau took it upon herself three years ago to be the voice of the best eats in the Golden Triangle. Now, she's working with the City of Beaumont Convention and Business Bureau to put on Beaumont's first ever restaurant week.

"The goal for restaurant week is just for people to try locally owned restaurants, it's also a fundraiser where part of the proceeds are going to benefit Lamar culinary students."

According to Bebeau, statistics show that once people visit a restaurant for the first time, they are sixty percent more likely to visit again. Bebeau said some may not realize how many locally owned restaurants we have in town.

Participating restaurants will have different deals going on all week. Some restaurants are highlighted on certain days, featuring special events like live music. Bebeau said each restaurant participating will have a deal going on throughout the week.

The event kicks off tomorrow at Madison's. That event, along with a few others require reservations. Bebeau said people won't need a reservation for most of the events, but the website will show which do and which don't, along with what menu items can be expected.

You can find that website here.

Bebeau explained it's not just about promoting local businesses. She said supporting the Lamar culinary students is important because "a student today may be a restaurant owner in a couple of years."
