CHAMBERS COUNTY, Texas — Chambers County Precinct 3 Constable, Donnie Standley passed away Thursday while out riding his horse.

According to a Facebook post from the Chambers County Sheriff's Office, they received a call for medical attention at around 5 p.m. saying Standley had fallen from his horse.

CCSO said that after arriving at 1343 Haynes Road, Deputies and EMS discovered that the fall was caused by some kind of medical episode.

Unfortunately, all efforts to revive Constable Standley were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead by medical staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital later that day.

Constable Standley's family, along with many friends and colleagues from the CCSO and Chambers county EMS were at the hospital with him when he passed.

"Constable Standley was a true working professional law enforcement officer. He routinely patrolled his precinct, was known to many, and made himself available to his constituents at all times. He had a great working relationship with CCSO and other local law enforcement and many of us called him friend," CCSO said in their Facebook post.

Sheriff Brian Hawthorne says the community lost a great public servant who always did his best for our county.

Standley was first elected back in 2005, and had since been serving his community faithfully for nearly 20 years.
