PORT ARTHUR, Texas — An 82-year-old woman from Orange has been identified as the victim in a fatal fiery wreck on Pleasure Island Thursday afternoon.
The body of Betty Baham, 82, of Orange, was found in the remains of a car that burned Thursday afternoon following a wreck along North Levee Rd
Firefighters from the Port Arthur Fire Department were sent to a reported car fire at about 2 p.m. Thursday.
When firefighters arrived they found the car engulfed in flames and an elderly woman dead, according to a news release from the POrt Arthur Fire Department.
"It was a tragic accident, and the vehicle was severely burned and the state that the vehicle is in is impossible to determine the vehicle's license plate or VIN number," said Judge Burnett. “Authorities are diligently working to uncover information that can be gathered at the scene.”
Judge Burnett confirmed it was a one-vehicle accident.
At this time there is no foul play suspected. The victim’s identity will not be released until the family has been notified.
