Beaumont United High School prepares for students to arrive

Workers repainted walls and restructured classrooms, and the teachers say it'll be the perfect environment for students to flourish.

BEAUMONT — Step into Beaumont's newest school, and instantly, you'll feel the excitement. Teachers have started decorating their classrooms at Beaumont United's new ninth grade center.

"I'm looking forward to a positive school year where we will unite both schools together. I think it's going to be awesome," suggested algebra teacher Gaylynn Guillory.

Workers repainted walls and restructured classrooms, and the teachers say it'll be the perfect environment for students to flourish. "We're already getting some positive feedback, so I'm excited. I'm proud to be a Timberwolf," Guillory said.

"Everything is modern. This is what our kids have been asking for," English teacher Lorita Chambers said with a smile, barely able to contain her joy. "It was like a kid on Christmas morning. I was excited. I'm excited for my kids because they deserve this," Chambers told us.

Associate Superintendent Shannon Allen says this wing of the high school will have a total of 16 classrooms. It will accommodate just over 600 students. "The kids are excited; the teachers are excited; the parents are excited. Really we can't wait until the first day and see the kids in their new space in their new facility achieving excellence." Allen hopes the new school will bring new results and improve academics in Beaumont.
