Silsbee Police looking for three men who robbed woman outside Dollar General

Police responded to what was initially reported as a robbery last Thursday at the Dollar General Store at 955 Highway 327.

SILSBEE — Silsbee police are asking for help to identify three suspects in a recent robbery. The three black male suspects were described as slender and approximately 16-19 years old. Two of the suspects had grey hoodies on; one with a black hood and the other with a grey hood according to a news release from the Silsbee Police Department.

Police responded to what was initially reported as a robbery last Thursday at the Dollar General Store at 955 Highway 327 according to the department.

A caller told police the three men left the area on foot and headed north on Landolt. The suspects then headed west behind Silsbee Oaks nursing home according to the release. The victim said one suspect took $80 in cash from her while she sat in her vehicle.

She ran inside the store, screaming that she had been robbed according to the release. Off-duty Officer J. Lawrence yelled for the clerk to call 911, and ran out to catch the suspects according to the department.

The victim claimed the suspects were trying to steal her car, as the suspect who stole the money jumped into the driver’s seat and tried to start the vehicle according to the report.

Lawrence is reported to have jumped into the back seat of the car and identified himself as a police officer, after which all three suspects exited the car. According to the release, Lawrence chased the suspects on foot, but lost sight of them as they entered the woods.
