Louisiana murder suspect arrested in Beaumont; second suspect arrested later

Southeast Texas law enforcement agencies were warned by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office that a murder suspect may be in the area in a Ford F-150 pickup truck

BEAUMONT — Deputies and police in Southeast Texas arrested a man Thursday afternoon wanted in connection with a Louisiana murder and are still searching for the driver of a pickup truck that the suspect was reported to have been riding in.

Southeast Texas law enforcement agencies were warned by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office that a murder suspect, David Wade Clark, 29, may be in the area in a Ford F-150 pickup truck according to a Jefferson County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Captain Crystal Holmes.

The murder happened Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, in Topsy, northeast of Lake Charles, according to Holmes.

A deputy spotted and attempted to pull over the pickup near Laurel Street and Interstate 10 but the truck fled and got away, Holmes said.

Police and Deputies then began to actively search for Clark and the truck.

Shortly thereafter a deputy spotted Clark walking in the area of College and 11th Streets and he was taken into custody by deputies and Beaumont Police officers, according to Holmes.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department helicopter was also involved in the search and later spotted the truck in the 4100 block of Calder Avenue.

Once deputies and officer got to the truck they found that it was empty and are continuing to search for the man who was driving the truck, Holmes said.

Clark was described as being white, 6" 1" tall wearing a shirt with the letters "RR" printed backwards on it, Holmes said.

Clark was later apprehended near HEB on 11th Street.

Deputies continued to search for another man reported to be in the truck with Clark. The second suspect was arrested near the 4100 block of Calder, Holmes said in a release.

Holmes said that Jefferson Davis Parrish Investigators are now in Beaumont and the investigation is ongoing.
