A 20-year-old man is in custody after leading Southeast Texas officers on a high speed chase into Liberty County in a stolen SUV before fleeing on foot after ditching the vehicle.
The man jumped into the SUV at a Lake Charles gas station as a woman was pumping gas and drove away with the gas hose still in the car according to police.
Beaumont Police began chasing the SUV, which was also involved in a hit-and-run wreck in Beaumont, and followed along Texas 105 through Sour Lake and into Liberty County police said.
Sour Lake Police officers, DPS troopers and Liberty County deputies also joined the chase as the suspect headed into Liberty County.
The man ditched the SUV along just off Texas 105 on FM2107 in front of Liberty Materials just west of Texas 105 and Texas 146.
The suspect ran into some nearby woods but was quickly caught by DPS troopers.
